| The Kentucky Derby 2002 and Triple Crown proved to be one of my best years in horseracing, scoring the cover of the Bloodhorse Magazine for the Derby and the Belmont Stakes.
One of the cool aspects of covering the Derby is the week of morning light on the backside of the Churchill Downs. While walking around with two of my favorite photographers, Skip Dickstein and Joe McNally, I captured one of my favorite images of all time with a protype Coolpix 5700. It involved horses being bathed after morning workouts and some warm horse poop in the background. The light, the steam, and the activity was all in sync. The image made it to a national ad for Nikon Coolpix digital cameras. |
